Ottaviani, J., & Wicks, M. (2013). Primates: the fearless science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Birute Galdikas. New York, NY: First Second Books.
This engaging graphic novel presents three women's journeys with their respective primate and their interaction with each other. Louis Leakey is the great man who brought them all together and helped each woman realize her dream.
Assignment # 2 - Evaluation Criteria
I would say that the Evaluation Criteria
of Organization and Style are most evident in this informational book. This book is a graphic novel divided into
three different parts, each part being about each one of the different women
and their studies. Technically you could
read only one part and find out information about one of the women in this book
but the style of the book begs for you to read more about all of the women and
in the end brings them all together. It
also leaves the reader wanting to know more about these amazing women. The afterword also lets you know that some of
the information contained in the book is fictional but encourages you to seek
out more information about “these three amazing women.”
