Assignment #1
Evaluation Criteria - Illustrations
The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch was published for
the first time in 1990 but was told by him while working in a childcare center
in the 1973 and 1974. The art is by Michael Martchenko. He was able to create
an amazing fantasy world through his drawings and illustrations. His pictures
do a fantastic job telling of this story. You can actually “see” the story
unfold without even reading the words. The color is very vibrant and you get a
feeling of the frustration that Elizabeth was feeling right from the start
through the facial expressions of the characters in his drawings.
