Me…Jane by Patrick McDonnell

McDonnell, P. (2011). Me…Jane. New York, NY: Hachette Book Group.

Jane is a girl who loves to be outside interacting with the animals. She takes her stuffed toy monkey, Jubilee, with her everywhere she goes. They watch the squirrels, birds and spiders. They figure out where eggs come from. Together they go up into her favorite tree to dream about being Tarzan in Africa. Jane dreamed about a life where she could study animals, learn about them, and watch them up close and personal. Then that’s exactly what she grew up to do, the chimpanzee expert and animal activist, Jane Goodall.

Assignment # 2 - Evaluation Criteria

The Evaluation Criteria of Design is what makes this informational book a fun, eye-catching and instructive read.  The illustrations of Jane and her little stuffed chimpanzee, Jubilee, are so sweet and inviting.  In addition to those illustrations, there are pencil sketches on many of the pages that bring nature and the subject matter to life.
